Senior High Youth Group
2017 Mission Trip
Our youth served with YouthWorks at the Blackfeet Reservation July 22-30. Hear a reflection from parishioner Joel Nichols who served as a chaperone for this trip and felt transformed by witnessing faith in action. Read reflections by a student who was “was reminded of the power of service and the joy that comes from giving” and a youth group leader who was “very proud to have worked alongside some very courageous, open-minded and caring young people from our congregation” here.
Regular Meetings 2nd and 4th Sundays
During the school year, Senior High Youth Group – or SYG – is a fun and very active group of freshman through senior high school students. We meet on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month from 7:00 to 8:30 pm in the youth room. Youth meetings are a chance to get together, play games, have snacks, and participate in a ‘worlds check-in’ where we share about the current events in our lives. In addition to regular meetings we go bowling, get lost in the corn maze, work in soup kitchens, go see the holiday lights downtown, and participate in a weekend retreat.
We end every year with a summer mission trip. Past mission trips included serving with the local communities in such as the Yakama Reservation in Eastern Washington state; Tijuana, Mexico; New York City; Sitka, Alaska; and New Orleans, Louisiana. We are planning a three-year rotation plan for mission trips: international, in the States, and in Seattle.
