Church school

Children’s Church
PreK-5th Grade. Weekly, during the school year, at 10 am service, begins in Sanctuary.
Children begin with their families in the Sanctuary and then process to their classrooms for age-appropriate lessons that parallel the adult readings.  This year we are using Living the Good News, an Episcopal lectionary-based curriculum.  After their lessons they rejoin the congregation for communion.

Faith Milestones
Infants to high schoolers.
What are Faith Milestones?  They are rites of passage that help to mark the journey of faith for kids.  What do they look like?  All the kids in a certain grade will be invited to sign up a milestone, they will have either one or several gatherings, and then they will often share what they learned with the congregation.  For example, our 1st graders will take a couple weeks to memorize the Lord’s Prayer together and learn about it’s meaning, and then they will recite it for the congregation.

This is a completely new program for St Andrew’s, so we’re only introducing a few milestones at at a time.  Our goal is to eventually have something for every grade, that looks something like the following (but we’re not there yet):

K               Doxology
1st            Lord’s Prayer
2nd           Communion Bread
3rd            Sanctuary Walk
4th            Bible
5th            Servant Leadership
6th            Sacraments
7th            Book of Common Prayer
8th            Question Hike
9th            Mission Trip
10th         CT Subscription
11th         Leadership
12th         Graduation Towel

Vacation Bible Camp
Usually the 2nd week of July.  This year it is tentatively 9-13 July 2018, 9am-noon daily.
A week of fun, community, and growth!  Each year we select a theme from the Bible for our kids to learn about through crafts, games, and lessons. Monday-Friday, 9am-noon.

Christmas Pageant
Usually the Sunday before Christmas.  This year it is December 17th, at 10am service.
Come celebrate the Christmas Story with us through a liturgy of song and play.  Our children lead us in reading passages of Scripture, sing songs, and enact the story.
